Savannah Churchill & Her Groups

Dipper #214

Review first published: 20.01.2002

Prepare yourselves for over 70 minutes of pure R&B enjoyment.

Savannah Churchill, the first true Queen on Rhythm & Blues. This CD encompasses recordings of Savannah and the groups that backed her. Her sultry voice is complimented By the likes of the Four Tunes, Striders, Five Kings, King Odum Four and the Ray Charles Singers. Spanning the beginning of her career in 1946, this volume contains recordings up until 1956. You will have nothing but praises for the works on this CD. The way the Savannah and these male groups work together bring thrills and chills to these Rhythm & Blues arrangements.

The only negative I find with this CD is. With all the programs available now to clean Vinyl recordings to near master tape quality, none was used on this CD. However, if you Are a purist and the sounds of the needle and record hiss are not bothersome to you. Here you have them. All in all the record noise is far from being unbearable, and the recordings are Outstanding!

When you purchase this CD you also get the great liner notes written by Lou Rallo. Made an already fantastic CD that much better.

Here now are the tracks from the Queen of R&B, Ms Savannah Churchill and her Groups.
