Wow! It took over four years for ACE to release volume 2 in this series.

Well worth the wait, however!

Volume #2 of Combo Records Vocal Groups contains twenty-six (26) tracks of great uptempos & ballads from both familiar groups and the unfamiliar. Over one third of these gems were unreleased up until this issuance. Makes one stop to wonder how much more Jake Porter (owner of Combo) left on the shelf.

4. All My Love (Is Just For You) - Sharps (Sock Smokin’, Toe Curlin’, Heat Raisin’ Ballad!)

5. Hot Mamma - Chanters (Featuring Ethel Brown) ’55 $150 (Latin Tempo! Rhumba!!!!) play

6. Do You Remember - Chanters unreleased (Ethel leads on this Ballad too!)

7. Laughing Love - Native Boys ’56 (Jitterbuggin’)

8. Chop Chop Boom - Jack McVea & Savoys ’55 (As good as the Dandeliers on States from ’55)

9. I Want A Girl - Delmar Wilburn & Squires unreleased (Swing to this one)

10. Whop - Squires ’53 $500 (Rockin’ & Rollin’)

11. Bobby My Love - Carl Ell & Buddies ’59 (Bobby, I hope is female!! LOL Ah yes, Carl says she is!! Good Ballad) play

12. The Bill Collector - Debonaires ’57 $1500 (Whew a few bucks for this one) (Good novelty tune)

13. She An Yora - Danny Boy Owens unreleased (Good uptempo from Danny & group in Japanese no less!)

14. The Cause Of A Bad Romance - Debonaires ’58 $100 (Super, super ballad!)

15. Cherrlyn - Native Boys ’55 (Ballad of a love departing)

16. Who’s That Girl - T. L. Clemons & Sirnites ’60 $150 (Group from Kansas City rockin’ for Jake’s Combo Records. As a Blues singer T. L. was listed as C. T.! So TLCT!! Still good!)

17. The Rhumba - Paramounts unreleased (Naturally! It’s a Rhumba!)

18. Have A Heart - Echoes unreleased (Mosby Carter, leads on this Pretty Ballad)

19. Beans & Greens - Nutones ’57 $600 (Goooooood Rocker!)

20. My Little Girl - Squire ’54 (78 RPM only) (Keep groovin’ to this one too!)

21. Tender Love - Ko Kos unreleased (Tommy Williams leads the group on this acappella ballad)

22. My Little Honey - Echoes ’57 $200 (Swings the thing for this one! Great!!!!)

23. Where’s My Girl - Jesse Belvin unreleased ’56? (Same song released on Specialty in ’55 by Jesse & The Laurels. Ballad)

24. When I Met You - Native Boys ’56 (Good Ballad)

25. Crazy Little Fever - Unknown group unreleased (Truly name of this group is unknown. Rocker)

26. Heavenly Father - Unknown group unreleased (Same group as #25 with this ballad)

There are the tracks from Combo Records Vocal Groups Volume #2. A fine, fine asssortment of tempos & styles sure to appeal to everyone. Brand new release from ACE.
