Here is Volume #2 in this series. Very good mix of West Coast group harmony and rhythm and blues. Plus one! Yep! This volume throws in an unreleased gem from Washington D. C.’s Syncopators.

CD title does say Vocal Group Rarities, however some of the groups may have backed the lead vocalist in MIME!!!!! There ARE seven solo recordings on this CD. These in no way detract from the enjoyment you will receive as you listen.

So! Let’s see what is in store for you on this Very Good CD.

1. True Fine Mama - Little Julian Herrera & Tigers ’57 Starla (This NYC Runaway makes a Rockin’ Splash to start off the CD!)

2. Our Love’s Forever Blesses - Linda Hayes & Group ’55 Hollywood/Decca (Very, very pretty ballad by Linda (aka Bertha Williams). Group more than likely the Hollywood Flames.

3. Oooh La La - Hollywood Flames ’54 Lucky $500/Decca $100 (Flames are a jumpin’ on this one!) play

4. Echoes On My Mind - Jay Richards ’59 Hollywood (Super Ballad!)

5. Volcano - Flames recorded in ’53 released ’71 on 7-11 (One of the many aliases of the Hollywood Flames. Good Latin #)

6. I’m So Crazy About You - Twigs ’54 Hollywood $200 (Nice ballad led by Ben Hughes)

7. Ding Dong Daddy - Wynona Carr (Turks) ’57 Specialty (Rock with Wynona and Gaynell’s Turks!) play

8. Got A Little Shadow - Flames (s/b Jets) ’54 Aladdin $2000 (Another HF aka! Bobby Byrd leads on this easy Swing tune!)

9. She Done Me Wrong - Whips ’54 Flair $3000 (Aka the Flairs, Cornell Gunter leads on this Jumper!)

10. No Next Time - Linda Hayes ’54 Hollywood/Decca (Linda is solo on this good Uptempo!)

11. What’s New With You - Joe Lyons & Arrows ’56 Hollywood $150 (Used to their Rockin’ recordings. Pleasant surprise with this GREAT Ballad!) play

12. Out In The Cold Again - Syncopates (s/b Syncopators) unreleased

National (Great early 50’s rendition of this Classic!)

13. Is It A Dream - Johnny Flamingo ’59 Dub-Tone (CD says & group, is a solo! Great Ballad)

14. Don’t Do Nothing Baby - flip of #10 (Real Nice! Strand to this one! SOLO)

15. No End To True Love - Joe Lyons & Arrows ’56 Hollywood (Gee! Another Ballad from them!)

16. The Natural Thing To Do - Sticks Herman (Golden Tones aka Gateway Quartet) ’58 Goldband (Stranding again!)

17. My Girl - Johnny Flamingo ’57 Caddy (Good solo ballad, by Johnny)

18. I Wish (must be a font shortage! Title is: I Wish I Could Meet You and that s/b HER) - Dots ’56 Caddy (In any event! Gonna Move & Groove to this one!)

19. Baby Pretty Baby - Flames recorded in ’53 released ’71 7-11 (Bobby Byrd doin a bass lead on this good Uptempo)

20. Change Of Heart - Linda Hayes ’54 Hollywood (Good solo ballad by Bertha!)

21. Johnny - Jeanette Baker (Dots) ’60 Dub-Tone (Jeanette sounds so Sweet on this Ballad)

22. Pleadin’ Heart - flipside of #9 (Rockin!)

23. Together - flipside of #19 (Bobby Byrd leads as a tenor on this ballad! Versatile guy Mr. Byrd is!)

24. Why Johnny, Why - Linda Hayes ’55 Hollywood (Bluesy Pleadin’ Solo Ballad!)

25. I Lost You - Dots ’57 Caddy (Jeanette Baker leads the Dots on this ballad too!)

26. You’re Mine - Johnny Flamingo (Richard Berry & Pharaohs) ’62 Caddy/Donna (Super job on this Dean Barlow & Crickets HIT!)

27. Hurt Me - flipside of #7 (Golly! Patsy Cline type ballad! Great too!)

28. Tears Come Tumbling Down - Flames recorded ’53 released ’71 7-11 (David Ford takes the helm on this Swinger!)

There they are!! Twenty-eight (28) fantastic tracks of Vocal Group Harmony and Rhythm & Blues. Even the solo recordings are worth adding to your musical library.

Brand new release for 2002. Look for this gem wherever you purchase your Oldies. Finding it a problem locating this CD, by all means drop me an E for assistance.
