A battle of the groups!!! Los Angeles, California versus Steubenville, Ohio.

The Metallics, featuring J.D. Wright on lead, with Ernest McGee, Charles McGee and Ronnie Deco. Later with Billy Pierman replacing Ronnie. Metallics hail from the Los Angeles area.

The Stereos, formerly the Buckeyes on Deluxe (Featured on this CD), from Steubenville, Ohio, were made up of (as the Buckeyes), Howards Allsbrook on lead, with Leroy Swearington, Bruce Robinson, Ester Thompson & Ronnie Collins. When they became the Stereos drop Allsbrook & Thompson. Put Robinson on lead and along with Swearington and Collins, Add Sam Profit and George Otis and you now have the Stereos.

What we have here are twenty-four tracks by these groups. Eight by the Metallics, twelve by the Stereos and four as the Buckeyes.

10. I Really Love You – Stereos ’61 Cub (That first one was sooooo hot, they picked up the pace on this great Rocker!)

11. Please Come Back To Me – flipside of #10 (Pretty Lamenting Ballad!)

12. Tic Tac Toe – flipside of #9 (Rocker! Good one too!)

13. A Love For Only You – Stereos ’59 Gibralter (The Perspiration!! Temp must be 200 degrees. Hot, Hot Ballad!)

14. The Big Knock – Stereos ’61 Cub (Great for the Beach Music crowd. A Strand to the rest of us!) play

15. Sweet Water – flipside of #14 (Picked it up a little on this side.)

16. Good News – Stereos ’63 World Artists (A Ballad! Not as hot, but very nice!)

19. Sweet Pea’s In Love – flipside of #13 (Word on this is Sweet Pea’s one of these Stereos. Rocker!)

21. By Only You – Buckeyes ’57 Deluxe $200 (The Buckeyes come in Rockin’)

Whew! What a super, super CD. All the elements of Vocal Group Harmony grace these twenty-four tracks. Thus IS A MUST HAVE CD.

Brand new for 2002. Has to be available in all your favorite Oldie Emporiums. Look for it, you won’t be disappointed!
