Well what do you know? Another compilation series seems to have started.

Volume 1 of Dazzling Group Sounds has twenty-six tracks spanning the early 40’s (one) through the mid 60’s. Even a couple from the 70’s. Vocal Group recordings that are sure to please everyone. Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll at it’s best represented on this disc.

So? What are we waiting for? Let’s see what is in store for us here.

1. Why – Chessmen ’58 Safari $400 (Start of with a good Uptempo)

2. I’ll Never Tell – Bunny Paul & Harptones ’54 Essex (Bunny taking lead on Willie’s ’53 Bruce Records recording. Good, but not Willie Winfield)

3. You’ve Forgotten Me – Biscaynes (S/b Sly Stone &) ’76 Subbaro (That’s right Sly Stone!! Great Ballad!) play

4. Carolyn – Five Kids ’55 Maxwell $5000 (Good ballad! But! 5 Grand??)

10. Heaven Sent You – Concepts yr unknown Tops (price on this one is Negoitable) (Funny it sounds exactly like the unreleased Gaytunes song of the same title from the Joyce Label. Killer Ballad)

11. Gates Of Gold – Serenaders ’58 Teen Life $1000 (Another very expensive Ballad! Wow! This collector has some fortune invested!!)

12. I Need You So – Bobbie James & Four Buddies ’55 Club 51 $800 (Good job on this Classic!)

18. S’posin’ – Jake Porter & Ebonaires (s/b just Ebonairs) ’55 Combo (Jake is leading the group. His bass lead has ya SWINGIN’)

19. No Greater Love – Delta Rhythm Boys recorded ’41 rel on Varieton in ’72 (Sure don’t sound 1941! Great ballad!) play

20. Never Again – Foster Brothers ’58 Hi Mi (Another Super Ballad)

21. Closer To My Heart – Walter Fuller ’55 Kicks $125 (Stay close! Ballad!)

22. Each Night – Five Dots ’54 Dot $150 (Better known as the Counts. They are Swingin’ here!)

What a great assortment of Vocal Group Gems. Thoroughly enjoyable CD.

Looking forward to the next volume in this series. Brand new release for 2002.

I believe you will have no problem finding it. If you do, as always, let me help.
