Lookie here! Yet another new compilation series beginning.

Vocal Group Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll from the early 50’s into the 80’s.

Yep! Got one here from the 80’s Ambient Sound Label.

Twenty-seven tracks of pure entertainment. I know you will enjoy this CD as much as I have.

Here’s what awaits you.

1. Cry Fool – Joyce Lomas year unknown Ultra D’or $200/’65 Michelle (Sounds a lot earlier than ’65. Joyce backed by an un-named male group. Pretty ballad!)

2. Little, Little, Little – flipside (Now this is ‘60’s. Rocker!)

3. Why Did You Lie – Ida Valentine & Lyrics ’62 Skylight $2000 (Good mid tempo! Good and expensive!)

4. Wrap My Heart In Velvet – Johnny Cole & Reptiles ’61 Radiant $125 (Pretty ballad here also.)

5. Stay With Me – Marquees ’60 Jo Ann $200 (Terry Brown leads on this very good ballad originally by Marvin Gaye & The Marquees ’57 on Okeh) play

6. I Need A Helping A Hand – Marquees ’61 Jo Ann $125 (Nudder good ballad by the group!)

7. I Sit Alone – Jades ’58 Reo (Could they be a Canadian group? Label is Canadian. Good ballad in any case!) play

8. I Wonder – flipside (Another ballad. Not quite as good as the flip!)

9. You’re The Only One For Me – Strollers ’57 Zebra (Well this makes six ballads in a row! Not responsible for what happens! LOL)

10. The Bells – Crystallights ’53 Sunset (78 RPM only) (You know this one as “My Heart” by the Cordovans in ’58. You got it! Another ballad!)

11. If You Didn’t Want My Love – Sunglows (s/b Sunny Johnson &) ’62 Carib $500 (Someone get the ICE WATER!! This CD is Smoking!!!)

12. Can Can Rock & Roll – Lafets & Kitty ’57 Apollo $500 (Must have heard me! Movin’ on this track! Can Can!)

13. Hey Good Lookin’ – Dinah Washington & Ravens ’51 Mercury $100 (Got an easy Swing with Dinah and them Boids!)

14. That’s What You’re Doing To Me – Dominoes Alternate take of their ’52 Federal release. (Clyde McPhatter sounding real good on this swingin’ number!) play

15. A Lover’s Hymn – Fontane Sisters ’59 Dot (Definitely what you do not expect from the Fontane Sisters! A Truly Great Ballad!)

16. Three Pictures Of The Lord – Violinaires ’66 Checker (Real SUPER GOSPEL Ballad by Detroit’s Gems aka here as the Violinaires)

17. Hey There Lonely Boy – Candice & Royal Counts (Candice Crawford) ’72 Catamount (Acappella version of Ruby & The Romantics hit)

18. Love Me, Please Love Me – Debbie Andrews & Muskateers ’52 United (Real nice ballad out of Chicago)

19. Pretty Little Thing – Betty Jackson & Carousels (s/b just Carosels) ’62 Gone (Betty got ya’s Rockin’)

20. Don’t Be Late – Shadows ’51 Sittin’ In With (78 RPM only) (Nice early ballad)

21. Don’t Make Me Cry – Debbie Andrews & Muskateers ’53 United (Dang! Debbie is fantastic! Ballad)

22. I’m So In Love Tonight – Heptones ’56 Abbco $500 (You guessed it! Had to be a ballad! Very good one at that!)

23. Our Love Is True – Del Rays (s/b Delrays) ’58 Cord $3000 (Rock & Roll)

24. Nasty Boogie Woogie – Champion Jack Dupree ’59 Atlantic (Rockin’ to this risque piece. Group chiming in MIME!)

25. I’m Past Sixteen – Bette McLaurin & Four Fellows ’56 Glory (Bette is telling us she is old enough! Ballad)

26. My One And Only Love – Harptones ’82 Ambient Sound LP (Willie Winfield still has it! Ballad)

27. He’s My Light – Mahalia Jackson & Larks ’53 Apollo (End on a sweet Gospel note)

Well there they are. Way over an hour of great entertainment.

Brand new release for 2002. Will definitely want this in your musical library.
